Unlifted veil
Your light is still visible to me behind this white veiled mesh. A veil you were meant to lift, to see the half of yourself. Even as night tries to wrap itself around me, you remain the sky that holds back the rain from soaking this white veil. Our promises,I will keep it. My fingers touch this intact white mesh, unaware that you have already sunk into the closing of eyes that will never open again. No one will ever see the face you loved but you alone. This white veil falls deeper than my own soul. Its brightness makes me understand you are still here only to illuminate, not to stay. It is alright. I will press my fingers against this white veil the way your ring once pressed into my hand before yours grew still. I loved you.
