Unbroken
Inhumanity lived among men, Where both woman and man were taken, not by fate but by cruelty. All for the color of their skin, They were beaten, broken, and stripped of dignity, treated less than human by fellow men. Mothers cried with empty strength, Children too weak to hold onto their breasts, Their tears falling into silence No one cared to hear. Men stood bare, not in shame but in hope. Hope that someday, pain would loosen its grip. Women, too weak to stand, Were forced to labor under a merciless sun, Their bodies trembling, Their spirits tested. Days passed without mercy, They bathed only when the moon allowed, As though even water Was a gift they did not deserve. Yet still, they endured. Through songs whispered by women, Through the quiet strength in their voices, Through the bright smiles of children Who knew nothing but resilience. Even in chains, Even in suffering, They held onto one thing, Hope.
