Tuesday night 6th drink in
My mom said that the alcohol made her feel like herself She drank to get drunk To set her mind free She warned me not to think the same And I know she felt self assured in her perception of who she was, but only with verses without a drink And I know she thought she had it all figured out, just like I do now.. It makes me wonder After years of watching her fall apart over a bottle If I could find myself looking the same But there's no need, because I'm not blind to how my mind would kill for that off switch, and how I feel so assured of myself when I drink Almost like I could reflect her words, and see her mirrored where I'm standing now, just 20 years younger and 40 years more wounded
