Trophies, medals and others
I almost don't want them Achievements...I mean Or whatever you'd call it To me it's just a piece of paper with a gold, silver or bronze streak Nothing's grand about it Some people applaud me for them But it doesn't get to me the way it used to To me it's just a piece of paper with a gold, silver or bronze streak I used to collect them all the time They meant more to me before They made me happy, content But the people I did it for seemed distracted They didn't care about my piece of paper They stared in awe at the trophies and medals won by valedictorians They didn't come here for me It doesn't feel that way anymore Every year, I get a pat on my back For the papers in my hand The ones I worked so hard for I didn't want to do it anymore It was too much sacrifice For a participation script To them it was just a piece of paper with a gold, silver or bronze streak To me it was an achievement Now I don't want them.
