TRIBUTE
The world knew him an old man But to me, he was very robust In his company I found a sense of belongingness A caring friend who kept me first in heart Shielded me in his embrace in my vulnerable moments Whose counsels anchored me against life's raging storms And whose prayers I never had to beg He was a gentle breeze amidst the fiery heat of life He knew me more than I did know myself His experience was the very counsel of my life Cracking up jokes in my dispirited moments was something he never found hard or disturbing He was very firm and straight And yet very lovely and comforting He was always at my beck and call And now he's no more He won't hear me when I call his name Or guard his hands up my cheek when I cry But I know he deserves this rest That the mighty Lord has called him for an altogether good reason And I know he'll still have me in heart in the Lord's bosom Thank you, Grandpa. You're one of the best things that has happened to me. Good bye, and rest well.
