Toxic Obsession
My so-called "love" is a poison, I know it's true, Yet the urge to possess you consumes me anew. I want to lock you away, where only I can see, Make your world revolve solely around me. I crave your every thought, your eyes on me alone, Suffocating you until I'm all that's ever known. Every moment with you has been a chaotic mess, Because of this need that I can't repress. I hate that you're closer to others, not just me, I want your world to be a reflection of my plea. Half of me knows this is wrong, a path I mustn't take, But the other half yearns to make you mine, no matter what it takes. The urge to hurt you, to keep you all for myself, Is a monster within that I struggle to quell. So I've distanced myself, created a crack between us, Hoping to contain this toxic obsession, this endless fuss. But the pain of this separation cuts me to the core, As I long for the closeness we shared before. This love has become a prison, a cage of my own design, Where I'm the captive, and you're the one I can't make truly mine.
