Torn Page
He saw the book-it's cover full of beauty Detailed and alluring With gentle hands, he took it Reassuring the librarian, he'd be careful After all, such beauty is rare As time passed, the book bored him The pages seemed mundane The stories written on the pages, not interesting for his taste after all, he knew best. The book was no longer serving him So he burned the embossing Ripped and folded the detailed pages Scribbled in his own words, to fit his liking The ones who once admired the tales- now turned their nose not happy with the result. The book was starting to give The pages deteriorating So, he gave it back, broken and tattered Taken back into caring hands it never was able to fully recover. Visitors came and passed Not seeing the beauty that was once there It was used and abused now Who would want that? As time passes people will come The ones who admire the beauty that still lingers The ones who will look past the faults They will take the book into their hands For once it'll be studied with care People will learn to love the damage And see the beauty that comes from strength But for now It'll sit on the shelf, being tended to Watching people pass, waiting to be admired.
