Tonight is Depression
The stars are crying tonight, I see them in blur as they twinkle tiredly, And I hear a slow, sad song, Almost a lullaby to me, Making me want to sleep and never wake up again. The moon is hiding tonight, Maybe in a deep slumber behind those clouds. I dream for a happy day, where my miseries are gone. Maybe I'm weary of the darkness, And longs for the sun. The wind is howling tonight, And the breeze is as cold as agony, In every howl and hoots, I mumble a phrase (let me die) I’ve been muttering for so many nights, A phrase I cannot hear or perhaps I just don’t want to. The silence is crippling tonight, I cannot hear my own voice, And it makes me question if I am still alive Or if I am just a shell of ‘once have been’, Maybe I’m just a ghost of my regrets, The dead part of myself. The weariness is deadly tonight, And I am aching to rest, But the night will soon end And someone’s waiting for me at dawn, So I will endure this anguish, and I will breathe, I will breathe until I’m not needed anymore. ©reddragonfly
