TODAY'S SUNSET
today's twilight finds me at my spot again facing west, point of solace staring at the sun setting home and home's silhouette at my back the day fleets past my mind the many a laughter shared the plenty sorrows we chewed the scalding hot sun at our brow and dawn's chill we endured and now the cake's icing, sunset the golden nothing hanging yonder painting everything on its path with it's yellowish magic making the mundane look mystical and leaving hearts of once broken folks merry and blessed but today's sunset is nothing to awe at the clouds darken as if in mourning and the sun seems hasty, hurried as if bound on a sojourn to where? no one knows many an admirer are left yearning that maybe the sun turns back for a final wave maybe or one last smile before it's final dip into the abyss the abyss we call forever a final bow maybe, a goodbye
