To the Love i couldn't keep
Maybe I should write you a poem of moments, where each line is a heartbeat, each word is a fingerprint, to trace the light of your eyes when they find mine, the way your lips shape my name like a sigh, the rose glow of your cheeks when you smile, a secret I’d kneel to witness forever. I wanted to be the keeper of always, to etch a life where our children knew how your laughter rewrote my DNA, how your beauty outlasted time’s weather, how you stole my heart mid-breath and never gave it back. But karma is a bitch they said, so I’ll pray instead; may your joys outnumber the stars, may your love be a shelter, may tiny footsteps be always in your halls, and may you, someday, tell them how someone once loved you in silence and free, and loved you still. @abbateewrites 28.04.25
