To my mother
You heard my muffled sobs through the door I heard you whisper to him once more So why don't you react, why don't you care Weren't you always supposed to be there? You've seen the scars that line my arms You've seen the times I've brought myself to harm I've tried to be everything you want me to be But there's no use in trying, you'll never let me free I know you've read my texts to my friends About how I wish it were over, how I wish it could end You act and pretend and fake that you mind But you don't love me, and those wounds don't heal with time You brought me into this world You said I was your "little girl" So why is what I do never enough? Why do you always leave me out to expire and rust?
