To My Mother
First of all, thank you, Maa, For giving me the greatest gift — The gift of being your child. You are my best friend, The one who rejects what is wrong And accepts what is right, Always guiding me with love and care. Last year, when illness made me weak, You stayed awake the whole night, Keeping your eyes open So mine could close in peace. No one in this world Can ever compare with you, Because your heart is filled with innocence, And I see your kindness In every needy person you help. Your love is my strength, Your smile is my happiness, And your blessings are my greatest treasure. And today, on Mother's Day, I pray to Lord Jagannath To give me the strength To make you proud, To keep you happy forever, And to become a good human being Just like you. Maa, you are not only my mother, You are my home, My courage, And my forever safe place.
