To Make Me
I say I'll look into your gaze Just a little longer, this time Even if it puts me in a daze, I need to see if you could ever be mine Your eyes quiver and look away I swear you looked at my lips I tap my foot and my knees sway And you lull my heart with your quips We'll walk side by side You'll trip to make me laugh again It seems like your shoes are never tied And we're just such good friends I sit alone on the bleachers Wearing my soggy windbreaker Half-expecting you to be here And my face keeps me from being a faker You won't come, though You're with your friends, and so different And I feel like I still need to grow Maybe I'll participate in Lent I see your eyes scroll over the crowd Until they finally meet mine This gym is so loud My ears ringing downs it out just fine Sit next to me with your food We only have six minutes It's hard to hide my mood The world almost feels without limits Brush your foot against mine Hold my gaze No one is watching, it's fine
