To Let Her Go
She once was my happy muse Showed me comfort love and trust Told me stories of past abuse Abused by family or forceful lust I began to care so deep Could feel the love in my soul But then began my daring leap And found my heart is like a foal It was young and rash, would run and play Would give her things, and she would say I love you so my sweet dear, oh my heart sure loved to hear Soon my heart would desire more My brain would start to keep a score A score A SCORE but whatever for? To see she loved me more and more With this grade I cast aside A part of me til this day I cannot abide The piece of my heart creating art I truly wished it to stay, yet I left that heart behind the day I felt betrayed Now I must learn to let her go and see my life without, as I try as hard as I might I do begin to know, I find the me I wish to be and have learned to let her go
