To Autumn
I love the autumn and it's scent, Calm and delicious, ripe and fresh. Nature is soaken in the golden hour, The Globe looks like a Sun flower. Moon, stars so shy but bright, Bringing a remeant lover in twilight. O' gracious autum, thy sight is bliss, Deny not my farewell from thy holy kiss. Let not my soul depart unblessed by thy gentle breath. For autumn's sacred benediction triumphs over death. π ( ii) "Fear not, dear soul," quoth Autumn mild, "I cradle all whom time hath worn The leaf that falls is not exiled, But kept within my amber morn. Thy sighs I heard in every breeze, Thy longing in the twilight's glow; I wove them through the naked trees, And bade the wandering west winds know. No spirit leaves my realm unblesse, Nor fades beneath oblivion's dome I gather each forsaken guest And turn their fleeting dust to loam. When thou shalt cross the silent stream, Where mortal eyes no longer see, My russet woods shall guard thy dream, And every falling leaf sing thee. For death is but the winter's gate, And I, its herald, not its end Beyond the frost and hand of fate, Eternal springs thy soul attend.
