’Tis Ye I Crave
I am tired of the weight I bear, Of days that ask for more than I can give; I love this life, though sometimes I declare I do wish not this life to live. Tis not death I seek, but dream of final sleep, I pray not to lie where all my sorrows cease; Though I wish the world would pass me by, keep its noise away, and grant my spirit peace. O gentle quiet, soft and unnamed friend, That waits beyond the reach of voice and fame, I ask no grave, no dark, no bitter end, ’Tis ye I crave, though I dare not say thy name. Let me step back, not lost, nor gone from sight, But less of me, ’til my heart feels light.
