Tide of Time
I fight against the tide of time. It swirls and swishes; pulls and tugs. When I was young, it wafted gentle; Like soothing, warm, and comforting hugs. But it's been wearing on me steady For these long years since I was born. It's stretched my skin and bones so much It caused me pain and left me torn. The forces in life's ocean water Seem to get stronger everyday. And I know I'm growing weaker My body withers, my hair turns grey. And soon I'll join the cold tidewater; As part of the earth once more; Become one with the tide again, Far off on some distant shore.
