Through The Glass
I take a deep breath and shuffle my feet towards what I dread - I'm refused retreat. In front of the mirror, I stare at a reflection, expecting deep eyes and a familiar completion. She blinked before I did, and my heart jumped through the glass - our pupils collide - a violent impasse. But the girl who looked back at me - she isn't who I know, she whispers, "let me free..." There was a crack in the glass, and through it, I saw: it was me all along - the floor rose up and fucked my jaw.
