Those days were filled with laughter that spilled into the walls Dinners where silence was rare And the warmth of two voices Braiding love into one home These days are quieter not the soft quiet of peace But the heavy quiet of absence One chair is always empty One half of love is missing And I have learned to live Between the two worlds that no longer touch Now I carry both memories and scars I am the child of that of what was whole And the witness of what was broken Yet in this brokenness, I search for strength I search for healing I search for myself
