This Way
Days fall one after another after another over and again, artfully broken By the... interludes of darkness... That promise a lullaby To lull me to sleep. Tucked in tightly against the edges of the coming dawn I dance lightly so lightly... softly... waiting to catch a breath in the stillness Endless ripples playing As Sunbeams twirl And peek above the windowsill Colors glowing... Blending... Like sherbert melting Down the side of a cone Yellow polka dots dance Edges jagged Behind eyelids Too lazy to open Light squeezing... Blinding... Like a cops spotlight Breaking through the dark Shuffling fabric sheets A tangle of ivory Traps sleeping legs The scent of Downey Fills the air... Sweet.. Like Springtime rain Drip dropping on the grass Rising with the morning sun A silent surrender In the noise Of the dawn Alone.... But not lonely... The emptiness is my place Not simply described It is not sadness or happiness But something snuggled And lost In between them Others have passed this way day after day... one, then another... past my place one way... but not the other #Poems
