This Love
This love is rare to find, a pearl concealed in time’s vast sea, Unlike all others known to earth, it bears eternity. A love imbued with reverence, with laughter bright as dawn, With joy that never withers, though countless days have gone. It knows no dullness, no decay; each morning we devise New ways to sweeten every hour beneath unchanging skies. And still each daybreak greets us as the very first we met, When eyes first locked and souls first knew what neither could forget. I would not barter this for thrones, for gold, or fleeting fame; It is the balm for ancient wounds, the quenching of the flame. My heart, once marred and weathered, now lies polished, smooth, and clean, Kept tender by a love so pure it sanctifies unseen. If it is ordained, it shall endure; no tempest can undo The sacred thread that bound your birth to mine, and mine to you. Now I believe love is the union of two severed halves aligned, And when the perfect portion meets its twin, the two are one design. It fits as rivers fit their banks, as stars conform to night; It joins with such accord that heaven seems to bless the rite. This is the love I knelt to pray for in my quiet hours.
