Things could've been different
Things could’ve been different, if the sun had warmed the rain-soaked earth, if whispers of chance had danced on the breeze, if paths had twisted like vines, growing closer instead of apart. Maybe laughter would linger longer, echoing in hallways of crowded hearts, memories stitched with golden threads, woven through the fabric of everyday life. A melody, sweet and familiar, playing softly in the background of time. Fingers could’ve brushed against different dreams, held promises in palms, unfurled like paper cranes, each one a wish, soaring high, painting the sky with shades of what could have been. Even shadows that stretch at twilight, could have known the glow of a shared journey, the stories untold, hiding in the folds of silence, like jewels buried beneath the earth, waiting for a hand to uncover their shine. And yet, here we stand, with the ghosts of choices made, and the weight of words unspoken, each step a push from the past, each breath a whisper to the future, reminding us that maybe things could’ve been different, but here, we find our own way, holding the beauty in the now.
