They say...
They say that hair holds memories and those around us shape us but what if Im not who they made me? I am every version that they created, yet I am simultaneously someone entirely apart. When we imagine our younger life, our younger self, who do we see? What do we feel? Some may see fields of flowers, smell the coming of spring. Others think of family, the smell of mum's perfume. When I think back I see every version I created. I am all of them combined. The version I loved most isnt as youd expect, she wasnt full of giggles and warmth she was the dark nights full of sorrow and fear This was who I thought I was, at my core, perhaps I was right. on those dark nights I am the moon completely isolated in the darkness Yet when the clouds clear and reveal the light I see them, my stars. Each reminding me of the light I could have. Without the pain I never wouldve felt hope Without the dark I never wouldve seen light Each fibre of my being holds memories some I wish to forget others I am clinging to They say that hair holds memories. If you every want to see the light you must clear the clouds. With the loss of each lock of hair I am the wind clearing the sky I let in the light, but I never forget The Dark.
