The World Holds Me
I sit and stare within my cell, A world of wonder turned to hell. Though I have clothes and roof and bread, A heavier hunger fills my head. The earth spins on, but I am bound, No freedom's path can yet be found. An evil stirs, unseen, unkind, It chains my soul and traps my mind. The light outside feels far away, Its warmth denied to night and day. Life locks its doors, and holds the key, It keeps me here, yet I must flee. But deep inside, a fire will grow, A flame that no dark force can throw. One day I'll rise, and break my chain, And walk the earth, released from pain.
