The Words You Say
Those damned words, a fleeting sound, It grants a pain so profound. Your words were said in play, But the words you left stayed and maimed. They float in the air, a fleeting breath, They scare, a grip stronger than Death. What seemed so light, so swift and small Left a Bight that caused a shift and built my Walls Careless laughs, thoughtless tones, Turn worlds to ash. For words so soft, can cut so deep Opening the wounds that were far asleep. You said those words in anger, But you forget they linger. Words twist and turn, We push people out before they can survey the burns. Choose your words with care, For once out they're always there. Words said, no matter when, Bring a sting, even if it was only then.
