The Wishing Moon
I wish I could be the sun Always gifting golden rays galore And never taking anything for oneself - For it shines on its own I wish I could be the sun But I am only the moon who adores The moon that takes only to hope for something in return. But in the end, I only ever shined alone. - Reflecting a light that wasn't even mine to call my own. I wish I could be the sun But I only give for something in return. Something that I selfishly crave. And yet I am the moon. If I can't even be like the sun. Then who am I to ever ask for something back?
