The Weight of Silence
It finally happened. Everything, at last, goes silent. I should feel relief, but I feel nothing. Happiness should come, yet it stings. I lived too much, too long, Spreading myself thin, hurting. Can't you understand that? Did you expect me to feel gladness? Here I am, alone on an island. I should hate you, but I end up loving You more, remembering your slurred words: "I'm thinking of ending things." I thought you were joking, But your pain ran deeper. You could have leaned on me, Not flirted with premature ends. How could you...? This isn’t what you imagined. It was never- I was supposed to smile; See the world anew. But I was just bluffing. Now, I am the one with wings, And you dare to think of what I’ve undergone? I can’t bear to see you suffer You are, forevermore, my friend. Do you see now? They’ve begun to examine you, But why did you leave me, just a grain of sand? Where you suffered, my suffering continues. I can’t rest; your strings Are still attached. You tell me not to dwell, But how do I quiet my mind? It was supposed to be us in the end —And you left me alone. There was no choice! But don’t worry, it’s okay. I'll see you soon.
