The Weight Of Being A Girl
Be quiet, sit with your legs crossed. Women are told this from a young age. Don't be proud, and be prepared to be bossed. Our heads fall down as we put ourselves in a cage. Sit up straight, and just behave. Society puts on the weight of being a girl. Wait, young men will come and it's you they'll save. But I don't want them to save me. It would be fine with me if they let me be. But they wouldn't go away, they chose it stay. Some days I'd rather stay in bed. The weight of being a girl lifted from my head. I wish I could stay inside, but I do the opposite instead. The world hasn't changed, it's the same it's been. Be quiet, don't be cross. We are told this from a young age. But let me tell you a secret; there's poison in our lip gloss. Our heads rise, eyes filled with rage. 'THIS IS NO WAY TO BEHAVE' is what they'll scream. But I will be quiet no longer. But I'm done being nice, hello Ms. Mean. They won't listen so why bother. The world hasn't changed, the weight of being a girl is our's to bare. But watch your back, we'll break out when you're least prepared.
