The Weight of Autumn
Leaves are falling like autumn’s warning. A heavy feeling pulling everything down. Rain pounds against the window, making me feel tired tired to the bone. Sweet dreams of the future fill my mind, a future that will never be real. I am not the same. Everything changed. I changed. All the thoughts I kept buried, all the pain hidden from the world, all the hurting slowly eating me alive and still no one noticed. How could no one notice? Notice how I hurt, how I felt like a failure, how I kept running just so I wouldn’t stop. Because we all know if you stop, you feel it. You feel everything. But how could I blame them? I became too good at hiding it like the wind hiding how warm it feels once it’s gone.
