The Valid Feelings of a Woman
I'm at my limit How do I go on with this I hate it I hate this I am told not to expect respect When I don't look "respectable" I can't show skin not even a speck The headache in my skull It appears as I try to think of ways To wear pretty clothes Without showing as a I pray And the rules, I do loathe As I have to look a certain way Anyways I caved So the boys do not have to pray For their souls to be saved But even if I cover myself head to toe A boy will touch me in a certain tone I will feel full of dirt and the lowest of the low I will shudder and turn cold The woman in me will scream Wailing for our tarnished flesh The child in me will want to leave Frozen and in distress The boys at my school are unruly They play around with no thought That's how they look to me They will call and mock I am required to sit next to a boy He's odd but I'll let that slide He stares at me like I'm a toy We joke but I try to stay away from his side He "playfully" hits me, it was not harsh I won't lie But not on my shoulder and not on my head He hits me six times on my thigh I feel this overwhelming sense of dread The woman in me screams Wailing for our tarnished flesh The child in me screams Frozen and in distress
