The Two Calves
Two halves of the same whole the two fused into one Their innocent unknowing eyes Looking out at the beautiful world they have just been brought into Unaware of the fate that looms over them That everyone else seems to know. But they know no wrong, Know that what they are is different Know of the barbed wire fences that confine them nor the cruelty of the world and it's predators and harsh winters. And maybe it's a blessing Nature's way to keep something so innocent and unharmed To doom the two beautiful calves Made into one To live only long enough to see the beauty of this harsh world they do not know before they must part from us as if to say we do not deserve such purity.
