the sweet kiss of death
Death is like a friend to me One I wave to and smile And act like I know One I greet and meet And hold hands with As we walk down a flower covered path The flowers of gratitude turned to regret Of a passing they couldn't stop A passing they didn't try to stop One so fast and silent that no one saw it coming It hit them like a truck Speeding on a rain slicked road The headlights blinding them Theirs eyes grew wide As the tears they weren't prepared for streamed down their faces Hot and salty Burning as they coursed faster then the blood through their veins A name they once spoke Etched into a stone until kingdom come Bones once covered by flesh Flesh they held and hugged While wearing a burned on smile So fake even the wearer thought it was real Death is a friend to me I know that now As I sleep in the bed with it beside me It covers me with the sheet As I slowly drift to sleep
