The Stilling
Cut open, I remain my own shape. The tide crushes, but I do not drift. Hope lit the monster, yet I grew taller. Fools risk pain, seeking life worth risk. Tonight, no tears will shade my sleep. Corpse-still, my body sinks through dreams. The flush of trying burns my chest. Yet here I stand, distilled but whole.
