The Stench of Dad
I’m lying in bed, trying to sleep, But something smells, so foul and deep. Why, oh why, does it invade? This stench that fills the air I've made. I try to breathe, to find some peace, But the smell won’t stop, it won’t cease. It’s not the room, it’s not the floor, It’s my dad, I can’t ignore. His feet, they linger, heavy and strong, A smell that’s been here far too long. No matter what, it never leaves, This odor that my mind deceives. Why, oh why, can’t it be gone? I just want quiet, I just want dawn. But there it is, like an endless tide, The stench of dad, I cannot hide.
