The Space Left Behind
I built a fortress out of quiet breaths, A sudden wall I never meant to climb. I let the silence settle in the depths, And traded gold for empty, wasted time. It’s strange how fast a garden turns to stone, When the one who helped it grow is pushed away. I hate the coldness that I’ve shown, The way I let the colors fade to gray. I’m tired of the change I put us through, The distance that I created on my own. There’s a hollow space that looks like you, And it’s far too quiet being here alone.
