The Space Between Mirrors
I look in the mirror and it feels like looking at a stranger. My brain won't shut up, but when someone asks how I am, I just blank. I don't even know how to feel my own feelings anymore. It's exhausting, being this disappointed in yourself. I crave a real, deep connection so bad it hurts, but the second anyone gets close, I pull the shutters down. I want to be left alone, but I'm terrified of being lonely. My words always seem to break before they leave my mouth. Honestly, the only things keeping me anchored to the floor are the songs I write, the art, and the very few people who refuse to let me disappear. They hold the line while I figure out how to come back to myself.
