The silent struggle
I guess it's more of you expressing yourself than I. I try to deal with things on the low, Find solutions to grow And leave the past behind. But to you It looks like I bottle it up. I run away from facing the truth, And hide my pain where you can't find. You see my silence as a wall, A barrier between our souls, But inside, I'm trying not to fall, To piece together shattered wholes. I carry scars that whisper loud, Yet show a face that's calm and clear. You see the mask, but not the shroud, The fears and doubts that lurk so near. It's not that I don't want to share, Or trust you with my broken heart. It's just the weight is hard to bear, And I don't know where to start. So if I seem a distant friend, Just know it's not you, it's the fight within. A struggle that I hope will mend, And bring us back to where we've been. I promise, though, to try my best, To open up, to let you in. For friendship's not a silent quest, But a journey shared through thick and thin.
