The Silent God
A hollow echo, where your presence stood, A silent sky, where once your light did gleam, My fervent prayers, misunderstood, A broken faith, a shattered, empty dream. Why, distant God, do shadows fill my way? Why leave me lost, in this unending night? Your absent hand, where I did kneel and pray, Has left me trembling, stripped of guiding light. Forsaken me, within your judging eyes, Forsaken me, within your distant thought, Forsaken me, where tender mercy lies, Forsaken me, the battle dearly fought. Is this your grace? This cold, unyielding stone? I cry to you, yet I remain alone.
