the silence between stars
Loneliness, a quiet ache, A shadowed trail I cannot shake. It whispers soft, it lingers near, A formless ghost, a hollow fear. Beneath the sky, so fast, so wide, I walk alone where dreams have died. The stars look on, indifferent, cold, Their distant fires, stories untold. A crowded room, a sea of faces, Yet none can fill the empty spaces. Their laughter echoes, sharp and clear, But falls to dust when no one's near. I build my walls, both thick and high, A fortress ‘neath an endless sky. And yet I yearn, with every breath, To break the chains, escape this depth. For loneliness is not the lack Of hands to hold or voices back, But something deeper, vast, profound— A silence where no heartbeats sound. Still, in this void, a seed may grow, A fragile hope, a faintest glow. Perhaps the ache, the hollow pain, Prepares the soul for love’s refrain.
