The Shattered Mosaic
In the garden of memories, where petals once bloomed, A frost has settled, and the flowers are doomed. The mosaic of our past, once a work of art, Now lies in shards, a fragmented heart. The glue that held us, has dried and cracked, The pieces no longer fit, the image is attacked. We tried to mend it, with threads of friendship true, But the cracks ran deep, and the shards wouldn't do. Like driftwood on the shore, we're weathered and worn, The waves of time have smoothed, the edges that were born. We're no longer the puzzle, that fit so divine, Now we're just two strangers, with a history that's declined. The stones that once supported, the bridge of our love, Now lie scattered, like rubble sent from above. We can't rebuild it, no matter how we try, The foundation's crumbled, and the pieces won't align. In the silence, I hear the whispers of what could've been, A haunting melody, that echoes through my skin. The memories linger, like the scent of rain, But the present is stark, and the future's uncertain terrain. Perhaps it's the wisdom, of a heart that's been worn, To learn to let go, and to mourn what's been torn.
