The shadow self
The black sky gazes upon as I lay beneath the pine tree "Tears of the moon, bless me" I try to touch it, helplessly. It whispers softly. "One should be free." I bid farewell to the shivering flames in my chest. The familiar boat glides by for the last time. I wrap my beloved scarf around my neck and head off, To a distant land of happiness. To anywhere far from this sickly tree. The thunder strikes near an unfamiliar valley Painting the sky a majestic purple The static runs down my spine I hide, hoping for it to stop, but it persists. Grains of the golden sand They reach for my neck as they form a hand, The sunlight shines on me almost as if It has something to show me A distant weeping under the scarlet sky A song filled with despair, but why? If I controlled all emotions I have felt, Why do my eyes still melt? If I look at myself from a stars-eye-view They can't see me as one, but two. I, and the shadow of my identity I can't overcome "I see." "That's what I've been running from."
