The Sculpture And The Sculptor
A man loses himself to make others smile, Piece by piece, he gives away his own style His laughter and joy, they slowly fade In exchange for happiness, others displayed He molds himself to fit their needs, While his identity slowly recedes His voice now echoes that of another And with every change, he loses a bit of color But this doesn't fix anything, he thinks to himself As the pieces he gives away slowly melt The feeling of emptiness consumes his soul he wonders when he lost control And If this would pay the ferrymens toll He thinks back to a time when he felt completed, maybe even full He realizes now the cost of his giving And he wonders if he'll ever keep on living As the world consumes him with its demands He tries his best to keep himself in his own hands What they haven't realized is he's just a man A man who's finding it hard to even stand
