The Rose on Your Car
I can remember the exact moment I realized I was in love with you Now, I always thought you were the most gorgeous boy in the room I always knew you were absolutely hilarious And truly had the best heart And talent beyond compare But I also knew I couldn't love you So I avoided it for a while And told myself I was being silly And that we were just super awesome friends But then I left a rose on your car As a kind gesture, just for fun But after confronting me about it You said you really hoped that I hadn't meant anything romantic by it And even though I hadn't, I started to cry Because I think deep down I knew That I had fallen madly in love with you in the back of my mind And this felt like a rejection of sorts But I cried nonetheless And that's when I finally admitted to myself That I loved you I remember I wrote a poem about it About the rose on your car One that's long since been trashed I remember when writing it I still had tears in my eyes And I remember it rhymed I know I reread it every day for weeks to remind myself how stupid I was Still trying to convince myself that I couldn't like you But it was too late I knew that I loved you more than anyone should love another person I knew I loved you
