the reflection
Alone in my room, I paced back and forth. I heard the sound of crying followed by sobbing. I looked in the mirror and saw a distorted reflection of a figure with red, swollen eyes, empty and with a terrifying expression. Fear. I took a step back because I felt like I knew her from somewhere and tried to keep my distance. Afraid of what she might do, I decided to embrace her, realizing she needed it more than I did. She hugged me back, but I felt a strange sensation. Empty. In denial, I slowly realized that, no matter what I did, she always followed me. I collapsed on the floor and wiped my tears. It was me.
