The Reason l Write
l didn't start writing because life was perfect. l started writing because l was breaking l had lost pieces of myself ln places that didn't value me. l felt unseen in crowded rooms, unloved in arms that claimed to care, useless in a world that kept moving without me. Everything was going south, Dreams felt distant. Didn't recognize my reflection. Poetry became my quiet room, A place where l could fall apart. Without being judged. Each word held my tears, When my voice was too tired to speak. There were days l had nothing to write No motivation Just emptiness staring back at me. Even my pen felt heavy But then a wise voice said, "Never give up on your dreams. Never look down on yourself, Not everyone who loves you ls meant to stay in your life Focus on your future And something shifted l realized losing people was not the same as losing myself Feeling unloved Didn't mean l was unworthy Being unseen Didn't mean l was invisible so l write. l wrote to find myself again. l wrote to remind my heart That it still beats with purpose. l wrote healing Doesn't always look loud, Sometimes it looks like ink. Slowly saving a soul Now l understand, l was never useless, l was becoming. Nkosazana
