The Raven
Don't look at the raven, your eyes you must close Don't trust it, beware Stay away, bite your tongue Escape the death stare, the funeral song The more that you fear it, the more the wings grow But how can such darkness lack a heart and soul, if it's in the shadows where violets grow? The raven knows faces the raven knows cold the raven knows places where lovers grow old With black amber eyes bright mornings he saw With feathery daggers love ballads he wrote When all hope is fading, he brings marigolds And when the moon's shining, he mirrors her glow He'll carry your mournings, they'll drown with the sun He'll count days and nights until you return Oh, to overfly rivers, like water he flows To wander through branches when winter wind blows Look at the raven blackpainting the snow Look how he dances with tree leaves and crows
