the rain tries but i can't
the rain tries to mess up my plans, dropping little commas on my window, like it wants to edit the day. but i just shrug, because somehow i feel okay. the sky is gray but not mean, just a soft kind of heavy. my shoes splash through puddles, and i don’t even care. i think that’s new. i used to hate this kind of weather. now it just feels like background noise, like the world’s white noise machine and i’m finally learning how to rest in it. maybe this is what happy feels like. not fireworks, not songs in slow motion. just noticing that, the rain didn’t ruin anything.
