The Rain
It's strange how the smoke hangs in the air When it's raining drops in your hair Hanging like a veil of grey and white Glowing blue and green in the night When the world is asleep and I'm awake I sold my soul there's none to take The thunder tumbles through my head Unraveling thoughts thread by thread I wonder if thoughts collide If they're thought at the same time What if the dinosaurs survived? I'm pretty sure I can drive Soon enough I'm swallowed down Into more what, when, how Laying there paralyzed by my mind Until I breathe out one more time There it is again, my anchor That pleasant grey marker Of Van Gogh's starry night Dancing in front my eyes Grounding and staring up Hearing the storm erupt Shooting streaks of light Slicing through my blinds In all its majesty the earth cracks Pouring rapids of blue and black Drowning out the silence Beautiful violence
