The Promise I cannot keep
A heart that yearns, a soul that stumbles, Down a path where darkness crumbles. I reach for light, a hand to guide, But shadows cling, I cannot hide. My tongue, it speaks, a promise made, To mend the cracks, to walk unweighed. Yet, in the dark, I stray again, And fall, and fall, in endless pain. Forgive me, Lord, for I have erred, My words are hollow, my deeds unheard. I vow to change, to find the way, But stumble still, with every day. Will you, dear God, have mercy shown? On this frail soul, forever prone To fall and rise, to break and mend, A love unyielding, to the very end?
