the price of being a man
I was born into expectation, Raised on rules of domination. Told to kill my own emotion, In the name of reputation. No room for conversation, Just silence in rotation. They fed me with suppression, And called it dedication. I hid my desperation, Behind fake motivation. Dying from starvation— Of love... and validation. They said, “You’re strong, you’re the foundation,” But I was drowning in frustration. Smiles became my obligation, While I battled isolation. There’s no room for confession, Just endless imitation. Of strength without sensation, A life of imitation. And so I ask this nation— What is this expectation? That manhood means damnation, And tears are an abomination? ............................................................................................
